Michael Sieve to be Featured at 18th Annual Deer Classic.

Posted October 12, 2008

World renowned artist Michael Sieve will be making a visit to the 2008 Brown County Deer Classic in Mt. Sterling, Illinois on November 15th, 2008 at 5:30 p.m.

An avid sportsman and recognized wildlife and big game artist, Michael Sieve believes that the best wildlife art is inspired by actual experiences in the field. These real life experiences, coupled with extensive research on the natural history of the area and species, plus photographs and specimens where possible, enable an artist to create a successful painting which is both artistically interesting and naturally accurate. When not traveling in search of material, Michael resides in southeastern Minnesota's bluff country, a region blessed with stunning scenery and abundant wildlife where he can observe deer, coyotes, turkeys and grouse, all on a short walk from his front door.

From the hunter to the food bank. Donations made of deer kills can help feed those less fortunate families.

SPRINGFIELD, ILL. (AP) -- State officials are encouraging hunters to donate deer to the Illinois Sportsmen Against Hunger program.

The donations are processed for meals for food banks, food pantries and charity organizations in Illinois.

The program started in 1989 and has since coordinated donations of more than 359,000 pounds of venison.

The Illinois Department of National Resources Director Sam Flood says the program really makes a difference for less fortunate families.
